Graffitis in Honduras

I think that graffiti is the way that many people around the world have to express their feelings, opinions or ideas about something. Sometimes its easy to us to judge graffiti artists because people usually think that they are vandals or gangsters that enjoy what they do.

Graffitis in Honduras are similar to the examples of graffitis in Egypt and North Africa. In those countries people try to express the problems they have through the art and they also try to find a way to generate a social consciousness.

What many people don't know is that graffitis express underlying social and political messages. Graffitis are surrounded by Controversies, but I think that we should try to learn more about this culture before judging someone.

Bangkok's 'Mexican' Gangsters

Thai gangsters are an example of cultural appropriation because they are adopting many elements of a cultural group to which they do not belong. These people might be identified with some typical elements or symbols of mexican gangsters and for that reason they decide to use these elements outside of their original cultural context. Clothes, tattoos and hairstyle are some examples of things with a cultural meaning to mexican gangsters but these things are now used as part of the thais' fashion.

We can learn from the article and the video that, as mexican gangsters, Bangkok's gangster are a group of people who share the same interests and have a lot of things in common. Both, mexican gangsters and Bangkok's gangsters, are part of a subculture. It is clear that what thai appreciate from mexican culture is their aesthetic, but they are not interested in fights or dealing in illicit drugs.

Afro-Colombians

Afro-Colombians are an ethnic group formed mostly by people whose ancestors were Africans who came to Colombia as slaves.
Although the history of this ethnic group has been widely reported, is still very common to find people who do not know and have never heard about Afro-Colombians.

Most people who don't know about this ethnic group are the ones who have contributed to maintaining stereotypes and negative images of Afro-Colombians. The truth is that thanks to the work and efforts of many Afro-Colombians, the country has established its economy

The extracting of alluvial gold deposites and the growing of sugar cane are some examples of the contributions of this race to our culture. Because of Afro-Colombians, our country has developed a wide range of products and a diverse culture.
It is for this reason that I consider important to note that Colombia is now a rich country thanks to the contribution of its people and Afro-Colombians have provided valuable resources to the country. The stereotypes that exist about them are not based on real facts, but on the image and perception of a few who do not know about our history.
